Paul has had conduct of a wide variety of matters refining his skills in large commercial firms. He has had carriage of contentious litigious matters in the State and Federal Courts and Tribunals. These matters have involved blue chip companies, government entities and insurance claims. Paul has appeared in almost all courts and tribunals, regularly being the solicitor in charge of cases in the Local, District and Supreme Court of NSW. He has also had the conduct of urgent interlocutory matters in the Federal and Supreme Court. Paul also practices in Victoria and has conducted of a number of matters in the Local, County and Supreme Court in Victoria.
Paul has experience in the areas of insolvency, having acted in complexing matters for liquidators and other external administrators in claims involving unfair preferences, insolvent trading, public examinations and loan recoveries. He has also acted in several matters in the Supreme, District and Local Court as a solicitor advocate and has acted for liquidators as the advocate in the Supreme Court in respect of public examinations and also in for directors being examined by liquidators.
Coming from a broad range of litigation background Paul is capable of coming up to speed on issues quickly over a wide range of matters and has experience acting for client’s in public inquiries, administrative law, criminal defence work, especially involving white collar crime, enforcement of securities, disputes against banks, corporate investigations and for client’s in area of insolvency law. Many of his matters involve complex questions of law and fact and have resulted in successful appeals from the Local and District Court to the court of Appeal and to the Hight Court.
Paul has also developed an expertise in the area of legal costing and appears as an expert witness on gross lump sum costs orders or applications for security for costs.
